Due to the planning of winter roads connecting the West Estonian islands and the mainland, the Estonian Maritime Administration will temporarily close vessel traffic on the basis of an application submitted by the Estonian Road Administration.

As of 22 December 2009, no vessel traffic is allowed in the sea area between Rohuküla-Sviby fairway and the line connecting Pinukse neem (58°56,57’N and 23°25,53’E) and Obholmen (southeast coast of Vormsi) (58°58,40’N and 23°22,30’E).

As of 24 December 2009, no vessel traffic is allowed in the sea area north of the Virtsu-Kuivastu route, south of the Rohuküla-Heltermaa route and east of the Sõru-Triigi route.
