BSHC Conference in Copenhagen

On 15-17 September 2009, the 14th Baltic Sea Hydrographic Commission (BSHC) Conference takes place in Copenhagen. The Estonian Maritime Administration representatives at the conference are Mr Taivo Kivimäe, the Acting Deputy Head of Hydrography and Aids to Navigation Division; Mr Vaido Kraav, Adviser; Mr Tõnis Siilanarusk, Head of Cartography Department; and Mr Jaan Lutt, Head of Hydrography Department.


The issues to be discussed include the strategic aspects of the further development of IHO (report of the IHB, co-operation within the IRCC, further steps in the S100 adoption procedure), strategic aspects concerning technical issues of the activities of HOs (national reports, Marine Spatial Data Infrastructure, Shallow Water Bathymetry, environmental impact of shipwrecks), strategic aspects concerning administrative and marketing activities of HOs (leisure craft charts for the Baltic Sea), BSHC co-operative projects with other organisations (BaltSeaPlan – Interreg project on spatial planning, report of the Nordic Data Quality Working Group, discussion on the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region), reports of BSHC Working Groups, and the status of Hydrographic Surveying and Nautical Charting Worldwide S-55.
