Ice-Breaking Begins in Gulf of Finland

According to the Directive of 6 February 2006 by Director-General of the MA, the ice-breaking activities in the Gulf of Finland are to begin on 7 February 2006.


From 11 February 2006 all ships entering and leaving Muuga Harbour, the ports in Tallinn Bay and Kopli Bay and Port of Kunda, and assisted by an ice-breaker are required to have ice class 1C (LloydÂ’s Register) or an equivalent ice class given by other classification societies, and to have engine power no less than 2000 kW. Barges towed by tugboats will not be given ice-breaker assistance.
