Ice Class Requirements for Ships Visiting Muuga Harbour and Tallinn and Kopli Bay Harbours

Starting from 5 February 2011, 00:00 hrs, all ships requiring icebreaker assistance for entering and leaving Muuga Harbour and the harbours in Tallinn Bay and Kopli Bay will be required to have ice class 1C (Lloyd’s Register) or an equivalent ice class given by other classification societies, and main engine power no less than 1600 kW. Tugs and barges will not receive icebreaker assistance.

Similar requirements were established on 12 December 2010 for ships visiting the Port of Pärnu and on 28 January 2011 for ships calling at the ports of Kunda and Sillamäe.
