Traffic Restrictions Imposed in Pärnu Bay

According to a directive by the Director-General of the Estonian Maritime Administration, the icebreaking season in the Bay of Pärnu began on 6 February 2007. Starting from today, 12 February, all ships entering or leaving the Port of Pärnu and assisted by an icebreaker are required to have ice class 1C (Lloyd’s Register) or equivalent ice class given by other classification societies, and to have engine power no less than 1600 kW. Barges towed by tugboats shall not be given icebreaker assistance.
